This week in reading our class will be finishing
our writing unit for English. The skills involved with this unit were
paragraph writing, finding topic sentences with supporting details, and
sequencing. The class will also start
the non-fiction novel, The Diary of Anne Frank. We will work on comprehension along with
reviewing the parts of speech, contractions, synonyms, antonyms, and homophones.
Math Class
My Math class this week is working on our
fraction unit. This is a big unit for 3rd
grade and may take some time. Here are a
few other concepts we will be working on as well:
· Timings
(Rocket Math) Multiplication and Division
· What
is a fraction- equal parts
· Naming
fractions and identifying fractions
· Comparing
fractions
· Story
problems with fractions
· Flash cards will start to
come home every night to practice.
Please sign the parent signature sheet so your child can receive credit
for homework.
Social
Studies
I will have my homeroom for Social Studies for
the next 6 weeks. The class will be
learning all about communities and the 3 branches of government. We will be creating a community book that
follows the standards for this subject.
We will also be studying the history of Billings during this time.
