Spelling Words:                

No spelling this week.  We will be starting spelling next Monday, September 15th.

Reading Class  - AR required points for 1st quarter is 10 point. 

This week in Reading my class we will be completing investigations on Hawks.  While doing this we will be working on the parts of speech.  At the end of this week, the students will have created a poem that describes our investigation.

 

Math Class                                 

My Math class is learning all about base ten and place value.  Here are some things we will be focusing on:

ü Place Value to the 10,000

ü Rounding

ü Greater than, less than, and equal to

ü Expanded form and Standard form of numbers

ü Writing and Reading numbers in the 10,000 range

 

Science

I will be teaching your child about Earth Science for the next six weeks.  This week we will be learning about the layers of Earth, rocks, weathering, and erosion.  The first test is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 16^th.  A study guide will come home Thursday, September 11^th.  Your child will not need to take home a book.  Everything they need to know will be on the study guide.
