Spelling Words:   No Spelling this week due to shorten week.

 

Reading Class  - AR required points for 3rd quarter is 20 point.

·       5 points = nonfiction

·       15 points = fiction

This week in reading our class will be working on a writing unit for English.   The skills involved with this unit will be paragraph writing, finding topic sentences with supporting details, and sequencing.  When the unit is finished the class will be completing an expository paper for their binders.

 

Math Class 

My Math class this week is working on our fraction unit.  This is a big unit for 3^rd grade and may take some time.  Here are a few other concepts we will be working on as well:

·       Timings (Rocket Math) Multiplication and Division

·       What is a fraction- equal parts

·       Naming fractions and identifying fractions

·       Comparing fractions

·       Story problems with fractions

·       Flash cards will start to come home every night to practice.  Please sign the parent signature sheet so your child can receive credit for homework.

 

Social Studies

I will have my homeroom for Social Studies for the next 6 weeks.  The class will be learning all about communities and the 3 branches of government.  We will be creating a community book that follows the standards for this subject.  We will also be studying the history of Billings during this time.
